About Us

Dymocks Children’s Charities is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children across Australia. For over 25 years, we have been fostering a love of reading and providing access to quality books because children who read regularly and have access to engaging books achieve better educational outcomes and lead healthier, happier lives.

Since our establishment in 2000, we have worked closely with communities across Australia to improve children’s literacy, positively impacting the lives of over 550,000 children to date. Despite some progress, literacy levels in Australia remain concerning, particularly amongst the most vulnerable groups in. Today, in Australia, 1 in 3 children can not read proficiently.*

Our mission is simple and powerful: to foster a love of reading and improve literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children in Australia.

Across 25 years, we have delivered more than 680,000 brand-new books to children in need, partnering with over 1,300 schools and community groups nationwide. Through these partnerships, we ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to discover the joy of reading and build strong literacy skills that last a lifetime.
