Read at Home

Our Read at Home program extends beyond school environments into children’s homes. The program supports children of all ages in priority locations and is often used to support communities through disasters including the recent floods, bushfires and the pandemic. Children receive brand new books, educational games, puzzles and activity books to keep, cherish and call their own at home.

The aim of this program is to support children who have limited or no access to school facilities, local libraries or have few or no books of their own.

As well as providing books through disadvantaged schools, we support a number of different organisations including Escabags, The Terry Floyd Foundation, Brainwave Australia and Story Dogs.

We are grateful to have partnered with Dymocks Children’s Charities, receiving a matched donation of books has been invaluable. Including children’s books in escape bags for domestic abuse victims can provide comfort and a sense of normalcy during a difficult time. These books can offer a much-needed distraction for children and help them cope with the trauma they may be experiencing. Additionally, reading can serve as a form of therapy and encourage healing and resilience in young minds.
