School Spotlight: Newman Senior High School, WA

Newman Senior High School, a very remote school supporting 337 students, has seen a remarkable transformation thanks to our Library Regeneration Program. With over 480 brand-new books added to a collection that had been outdated for nearly two decades, students now have access to stories that are relevant, engaging, and inspiring.

Before the program, borrowing rates were extremely low, and students often used the library only for laptops or as a quiet space. Now, students are excited to explore the shelves during silent reading time, voluntarily picking up books, and engaging with texts that reflect their lives and interests.

“We finally have relevant books on the shelves. Our very small collection was extremely outdated, and this has made a great impact. Kids are now excited about silent reading time and coming in to choose books. We finally have borrowers again.”

The new library resources have breathed life into the space, supporting reading, school engagement, and programs that prepare students for careers and further study. The impact? Very significant.
