School Spotlight: Austins Ferry Primary School, TAS

At Austins Ferry Primary School, exciting changes are underway in the school library, with a strong focus on creating a refreshed and engaging reading space for students.

Through our Library Regeneration Program, we were thrilled to provide more than 490 brand-new books to support the school’s 471 students. With an annual library budget of just $1,500, the donation has made a significant impact on the school’s ability to update and expand its collection.

The library team has been focused on setting up a new library space, reviewing the current inventory of books, and ensuring students have access to relevant, high-quality resources.

The response from students has already been incredibly encouraging. After the books arrived, several classes helped stamp and prepare the new titles for the shelves. Students quickly began reserving books they were excited to borrow, discovering new authors, and eagerly searching for the next titles in their favourite series.

The new resources have also allowed the school to update much-needed dictionaries and atlases, while multiple-copy book sets will help launch reading groups where students can read and discuss stories together with their friends.

It’s wonderful to see how access to fresh, engaging books is helping foster excitement around reading and creating new opportunities for connection and learning within the school community.
