School Spotlight: Budgewoi Public School, NSW

As schools across Australia celebrate Children's Book Week, we're shining a light on the incredible impact books can have in the classroom and at home.

At Budgewoi Public School on the NSW Central Coast, students are building their own home libraries and discovering the joy of owning books they can call their own through Dymocks Children's Charities' Book Bank Program.

Through the Book Bank Program, students in Years 3–6 receive four brand-new books each year over four years. By choosing each book themselves and taking it home to keep, they're building personal libraries and developing a lifelong love of reading.

The impact has been significant for the school community.

"A student in Year 6 told me that they have never owned a brand-new book before. This was a really eye-opening statement as to how important this program is for students like ours."

Moments like these are a powerful reminder that access to books can make a lasting difference. By giving children the opportunity to choose and own books, the Book Bank Program is helping to inspire a new generation of readers, one story at a time.
