Library Boost Project: Bridport Primary School, TAS

Bridport Primary School in Tasmania joined the Library Boost Project, bringing their community together to support a shared love of reading.

With 182 students, the school successfully raised funds to welcome 95 brand-new books to their library. What made their effort even more special was the strong sense of community behind it. Students, teachers and families all got involved, united by a passion for literacy and a desire to create more opportunities for reading.

Through the program, students who helped fundraise were able to choose a book for their library, leaving a personal message and their name inside the front cover, creating a lasting legacy for future students.

Teacher Chrissie shared how positive the experience has been for the school community:

“Library Boost was excellent all round. All the books are definitely being loved. It has been really well received, and the students are so proud.”

Students themselves were eager to support the project and share why reading matters to them.

“I am fundraising because I love to read and want everyone to be able to enjoy it as I do!”
— Blair, Student

“We’re fundraising because we love to read, and we hope that our fundraising helps other kids enjoy reading too!”
— Mabel and Banjo, Students

Bridport Primary School also chose to extend their impact beyond their own community. Through Library Boost, the school fundraised not only for their own library but also helped donate funds to support a school in need, ensuring more children have access to books and reading opportunities.

Their story is a powerful example of how schools can come together to strengthen their libraries, inspire young readers and support literacy across Australia.
