School Spotlight: Crawford Public School, NSW

Through the Library Regeneration Program, Crawford Public School in Doonside, NSW has received over 500 brand-new books, significantly expanding the reading opportunities available to its 387 students.

Before the program, the school’s entire library collection consisted of around 1,000 books, meaning the new titles have made a substantial difference to the range and variety of texts students can access.

The arrival of the books has already sparked excitement across the school community. Students were eager to explore the new collection as soon as the books appeared on the shelves.

The school shared how meaningful the moment was for both staff and students:

“Our students are excited to engage with a range of new texts. Seeing their excited faces when they were placed on the shelves was invaluable.”

Early feedback from the school indicates the program is already having a strong impact. Staff reported increased enthusiasm for reading and higher library borrowing rates, demonstrating how access to fresh, engaging books can quickly reinvigorate a school library.

With more than 500 new books now available, Crawford Public School is better equipped to support students in discovering stories, developing literacy skills, and building a lifelong love of reading.
