Supporting Children’s Literacy
Dymocks Children’s Charities provides brand-new books to schools and not-for-profit organisations supporting children experiencing disadvantage across Australia.
Through our two core programs, Book Bank and Library Regeneration, we help increase children’s access to quality books and create more opportunities for children to develop a love of reading.
Our Programs
Book Bank
Providing schools with access to brand-new books that students can choose, take home and enjoy, helping children build their own personal libraries and discover books they love.
Library Regeneration
Helping schools refresh and rebuild their library collections by providing access to brand-new books selected to suit their students’ interests and learning needs.
Why Our Programs Matter
Every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident reader, but access to books is not equal.
Across Australia, many children face barriers to accessing quality books at home, at school, or in their communities. Limited household resources, under-resourced libraries and outdated collections can all impact children’s ability to engage with reading.
Dymocks Children’s Charities works to remove these barriers by providing brand-new books to schools and communities where they are needed most.
Who Can Access Our Programs?
Our literacy programs support registered schools in the lowest quartile of the ICSEA percentile, as well as eligible not-for-profit organisations supporting children across Australia.
If your school or not-for-profit organisation works with children experiencing disadvantage and would benefit from increased access to books, we encourage you to apply.
Applying for Support
Schools and eligible not-for-profit organisations can apply for support through our literacy programs.
To help us assess applications, provide as much detail as possible about your community, the children you support, existing access to books, and how new books will make a difference.
Applications must be completed by a registered staff member of the applying school, with approval from their Principal or supervisor before submission.

“Most of our students don’t have books at home, and we are unable to provide home-readers due to our limited assets. I know the students and their families are very grateful to have a first-class school library. I see some parent come in and stare at the books. Some parents are illiterate themselves having not had the chance to go to school. Thank from the bottom of our hearts.”
